Week 21, May 21-27

Sunday, May 21st-

Good day. The morning went really well and it was mainly because I woke up earlier than the kids and was all ready before having to help them. This is what I used to do all the time but it’s been hard for me to wake up early since I’ve been pregnant. But today it worked again and we didn’t have any fights and even got to church 5 minutes early. Yea!

This evening we had Deruchette and some of the kids and Josh and Tina and their kids over for cake and ice cream for Molly. We had a good time. Molly is a crack up. She kept trying to take pieces of the cake to eat and then even licked it. When she blew out her candles she spit on the cake (not on purpose). Oh and when we sang to her she was embarrassed, but in a happy way. It was adorable.

Monday, May 22nd-

Had to tend this evening because the Monday night girl quit and is really sick with morning sickness so I didn't want to ask her to work the 2 weeks while trying to find someone. People just keep quitting. It's crazy!

Tuesday, May 23rd-

Tonight Silas took charge like a champ because I wasn't feeling well. We were supposed to go on a grocery shopping date because this morning Grandma Warby took too long for me to do my normal shopping. Once Silas got home from work I had a headache and my tummy was rumbling (in anger with me-a normal response in the evenings). My nice husband fed the kids, washed the dishes and put the kids to bed. Then he ran to the store for milk and a treat for Ryan's class. He's a keeper.

Wednesday, May 24th-
Last day of 6th grade

Last day of 5th grade
Last day of 2nd grade
Last day of Kindergarten!
  • Kids to school...LAST DAY!
  • Gym- talked to Lasse about daycare concerns
  • Cora to school
  • Teacher gift cards
  • Help with Kindergarten party
  • Gave teachers their gift cards
  • Boys stayed to play kickball with friends
  • Cleod home, picked up kids and went to orthodontist- paying less for Cleod’s upcoming braces than I originally thought (YEA!)
  • Dairy Queen with Silas to spoil our dinner
  • Cleod to Kyle's and me to the Verizon store (for 2 hours)
  • No scouts (because I was gone and Silas forgot)- so sad
  • Kids stayed up late and I asked Katie to do Grandma in the morning so when I told them they could sleep in they were so happy. I am too.

Thursday, May 25th-

SUMMER! Today was so nice! We leisurely got up and started the day. I did have the kids do their chores but I didn't hound them to get them done quickly. Ryan had piano with Peggy at 11am but that was the only place we had to go. I got laundry done, we had quiet time (reading and writing in the afternoon) and then I let them watch a movie while I worked on the program and did some genealogy.

There was a little more bickering than I expected but overall it was a good day. Silas and I went on a date when we got home from work. It wasn't magical. We got Thai food at Sweet Basil and did wasn't very good...and it's always good so that was a bummer. Then we got ice cream from a new place on town and it was kinda gross. And then I got another headache. Haha. Poor Silas.

Friday, May 26th-

Cute Molly asleep on the way
to Vegas
On our way to Las Vegas right now (I'm writing on my phone). This morning the kids and I went to the gym so I could train a new girl and Cleod got to work out for the first time because I just added him to our membership. He was pretty excited.

I also chatted with Lasse again about the daycare stuff again and agreed on a new arrangement so that I get paid a little more for doing extra shifts while I'm waiting to fill positions. And I made a plan to try to help retain daycare workers.

For lunch the kids scavenged (they have been getting really good at that since I've been pregnant) and I went to Sarah Hopkinson’s house for lunch with a few ladies from the ward. It was really fun.

Now we're on the road and excited for break from life. This might be the only weekend for the whole summer that we can go to Vegas with Silas so I'm glad it worked out.

Opening a present from Grandma and Grandpa Rowley

Saturday, May 27th-

  • Target for clothes and swimming stuff for Cleod (I had the kids pack their own clothes and it wasn't a huge success with the girls so we needed some clothes and I realized that it's the first time we've been swimming this year and Cleod has grown a TON.)
  • Picked up Nothing Bundt Cake
  • Lunch
  • Swimming with Deni and Jeff and the kids at the family pool at in Grandma's neighborhood.
  • Hanging out and showers
  • Dinner

Week 20, May 14-20

Sunday, May 14th-
Mother’s Day started out a little rough… but ended up being a fine day. Sometimes I hate holidays like Mother’s Day because I think everything is going to be wonderful or that the kids won’t fight or whatever. Then when that doesn’t happen I feel disappointed in the day. After church I took advantage of both being pregnant and it being Mother’s Day and I slept for about 3 hours. When I got up Silas was just finishing making dinner.

In the evening we were going to watch a movie or something but I decided I wanted to catch up on organizing photos and getting more done on the blog so the kids watched more Relative Race and I worked on the computer.

Monday, May 15-

Peeked at the baby during my appointment today with their old ultrasound machine. It made me so happy! I'm 18 weeks so we were actually trying to see what the gender was even though my normal ultrasound is on Wednesday. I sent a quick text to Silas and he was over at the office in 5 minutes which was super cute. We didn't end up seeing any boy or girl parts but it was fun to see the baby anyway!

Spring Arts Night
Tonight was the dreaded Spring Arts Night, but it actually went really well this year. The kids and I went early and got good seats so we didn't have to shuffle around much. We did lose a seat in the shuffle after one of the performances so Silas and Molly wandered around a little bit that might have been better for her anyway.

The choir was so great and all the kids’ grade performances were fun to watch.

Instead of eating food at the school we went to Lin's and let the kids pick out their own dinners. It was pretty funny. Cleod picked a personal lasagna, Cora got bagel bites and the other kids got lunchables. I got some sweet potato fries and Silas bought a steak. They got to pick out drinks too so they were all really happy.

Tuesday, May 16th-

Found Molly sleeping under her bed today when we were
trying to leave for piano lessons
On the way home from Cleod's piano lesson Grant was talking about what he wanted to make himself for dinner (we have a lot of random dinners since I've been pregnant) and then Molly remembered that I told her yesterday that I would take her to the kindergarten park. So we got home and got a bunch of random food together and headed over to the school for a random/chilly picnic dinner. When Silas got off of work he came over and played catch with the kids (more like threw the football at the boys) until it got too cold. It was fun to do this spontaneous thing tonight.

Picnic dinner at the park

Saturday, May 20th-

Molly is FOUR! She was so happy this morning because 4 is her favorite number and she has wanted to be 4 for a long time. Haha. We ended up doing a lot more cleaning today than we were planning but we did take the kids to the cheap theater to watch "Boss Baby" and Silas took Molly on some errands. She asked for Mac and cheese for dinner so we made her that. Both dinner and lunch were picnics on the floor in the living room too.

Week 19, May 7-13

Sunday, May 7th-

Overall today was a successful day. Not perfect but it was good. I am happy to be home with the kids. Silas said he got right into the swing of things at church and had more energy than normal.
After church we were pretty lazy together and watched some things in BYUtv.

  • Took Ryan to a friend’s house to help with a Battle of the Books poster and I went to about an hour of Relief Society
  • Pres. Rau came to our house for a visit instead of Silas going to his office for his monthly PPI. We had a good visit and he talked to the kids about how they can help our family and help Dad while he’s the Bishop.

Wednesday, May 10th-

I had a great workout this morning at the gym. Then I had a great visit with Lori at the school park after dropping off our Kindergartners. She makes me laugh!

Tonight the boys at cubs but Cleod wasn’t able to go to mutual because of some poor choices he made this morning.

Thursday, May 11th-

This afternoon I grabbed some food from Honolulu Grill and Amber came over for lunch. It was nice to be home because Molly could do her own thing and we could visit.
Ryan with his Battle of the Books team

During school Ryan had Battle of the Books. This year they only had one student team against teachers. I didn't get to go but a mom sent me photos. Ryan had a great time and was super happy about winning!

After school both of the boys had piano lessons at the same time (Cleod had to make up a lesson he missed because of the track clinic) so Silas got off of work a little early to take Ryan. Peggy is retiring soon which is a bummer FOR SURE but it will be nice to have the boys go to the same teacher too.

Friday, May 12th-

This morning I babysat at the daycare at Spirit. I am going to try to tend Fridays for a while. I don’t love the idea but I am having a hard time finding people who want to tend for a membership. On the other hand, I am having a hard time getting some of my “daycare coordinator” duties done so if I am actually there once a week I can do some paperwork and clean the bathroom and such. The girls LOVE being there so that’s not an issue.

This afternoon Molly and I went to a special assembly at Fiddlers that the 5th grades prepared. Ryan had a part in it as Thomas Jefferson and was super cute. He enjoyed learning about US History so much this year and worked hard to earn the Patriot Award. He sure is a nice boy!

Saturday, May 13th-

Tonight was Ward Temple Night. We thought we were going to be driving people down so Silas spent over an hour cleaning the van...something that hasn’t been done for a while. The kids dried the van and even Gabriel joined in. We ended up driving down with the Slades but at least the van is clean. Haha
Kids drying off the van
The session was good and we got Five Guys for dinner with Rusty and Emma afterward. Yum!

Natalie came and babysat the kids which they were pretty excited about. We love that she is fun and reliable so we don’t have to worry about leaving the kids while we go to St. George to the temple. We were chatting with her when we got back that we wouldn’t need her after the Cedar temple was done but then quickly realized that we would have a new baby so we probably will still have her tend while we go to the temple in Cedar, at least until the baby is old enough for us to leave with the kids.
